Anti Asthmatic Drug
Anti-asthmatic drugs are medications used to manage and control the symptoms of asthma, a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways characterized by wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. These medications work by reducing inflammation, opening up the airways, and preventing or relieving asthma symptoms. There are several types of anti-asthmatic drugs, including: Bronchodilators: Bronchodilators are medications that relax the muscles around the airways, leading to widened air passages and improved airflow. They are commonly used to relieve acute symptoms of asthma and prevent asthma attacks. Bronchodilators are divided into two main categories: Short-acting beta2-agonists (SABAs): These bronchodilators provide rapid relief of asthma symptoms and are often used as rescue medications during asthma attacks. Examples include albuterol (Ventolin), levalbuterol (Xopenex), and terbutaline (Brethine).
