TIG and GTAW Welding

TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) and GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) are two names for the same welding process, which is widely regarded for its precision and ability to produce high-quality welds. It is most commonly referred to as TIG welding, while GTAW is its technical name used by organizations like the American Welding Society (AWS). This process is used in various industries, including aerospace, automotive, fabrication, and pipe welding, due to its clean, accurate, and versatile nature.

In TIG welding, an electric arc is created between a non-consumable tungsten electrode and the workpiece. The electrode is not melted during the welding process; instead, it conducts electricity to create the arc that melts the base material. A filler rod is often used if additional material is needed to fill the weld joint, but it is not always necessary.
